Extended health benefits are any additional medical coverage provided by an employer or an insurance plan, above the basic healthcare. These benefits are extra services usually extended beyond what is usually taken care of in standard government plans of health care. They include prescription drugs, dental care, vision care, physiotherapy, chiropractic services, mental health support, and in some cases, acupuncture alternative treatments. Extended health benefits are meant to support and amplify general well-being, reduce out-of-pocket expense for employees or policyholders, and most of all, provide them with full support health service.
